About us

 

The Association of Lithuanian Stevedoring Companies is a public and socially responsible organisation founded in 1999. It unites 16 stevedoring companies operating in Klaipeda port and directly engaged in cargo handling and warehousing as well as passenger services. Klaipėda University, Lithuanian Maritime Academy and Klaipėda Shipping Research Centre are its associate members. While representing interests of the members, the Association participates in decision making on port operation and development, other issues relevant to port companies, closely cooperates with local and state authorities, pays a lot of attention to social, environmental and other public initiatives.

The main goals of the Association are:

–  ensuring favourable  environment for development of the port industry, for safe and efficient operation of  the port complex.

–   representing interests of stevedoring companies at governmental institutions, Ruropean and international organisations, participation in conferences, exhibitions, etc.

–   active collaboration with state and governmental institutions in  preparing legislative projects or amendments to the laws related to stevedoring activities. For this purpose, Association regularly arranges meetings and discussions with members of the Parliament, leaders of governmental institutions and parliamentary committees.

The  Association is member of the Board of Port Development, Customs Advisory Committee, Confederation of Lithuanian Industrialists,  Lithuanian Business Confederation and European Private Port Operators (FEPORT).
